The LivePerson Web Tag is a small piece of code that you embed on your website to enable features like chat and messaging functionalities offered by LivePerson's Conversational Cloud.
The Web Tag serves two main purposes:
- Visitor Identification and Monitoring: The Web Tag allows LivePerson to identify and track visitors on your website. This enables features like targeted chat invites based on browsing behavior and maintaining chat continuity even as visitors navigate through different pages.
- Enabling LivePerson Features: The Web Tag acts as a bridge, allowing your website to interact with LivePerson's Conversational Cloud platform. This empowers functionalities like chat, messaging, and other communication channels.
Embed the Web Tag into your brand's required web pages in order to start tracking, monitoring and engaging the website visitors.
To add the web tag:
1. Log in to your Conversational Cloud account. The homepage appears.
2. Click on your user profile in the top right and click Web Tag. The web tag page appears.
3. Copy the web tag code at the bottom of the page. And paste it into the <head element> of the webpages as required by the brand.
ℹ️ Paste the code as high up in the <head> element as possible to ensure no errors.
The lpTag
object is available on your website when you add the Web Tag script to your website.
This object allows you to access many functionalities that relate to the visitor experience on your website.
Some of these functionalities include:
- Triggered Events
- Page refreshes
- LivePerson variables
- Visitor SDEs
After this step, you can start creating and publishing campaigns.
